How We Make Our Decals
At Orchard Classic Decals, we combine our knowledge of these great motorcycles and our graphic and printing experience to recreate the authentic decals that defined a great period in motorcycling. Our process ensures we do everything in our power to recreate the decals to the original look.
Research & Documentation
Each decal begins with research (we don't know everything, and in our business it is important that you understand what you don't know). We study original factory specifications, vintage catalogues, and authentic examples to ensure historical accuracy. We base our decals on samples from customers and NOS (new old stock decals) and on original motorcycle graphics as well.
Design & Preparation
Getting an image or a copy of an image is one thing, but it is important to know the actual dimensions; hence, we use NOS/original bikes and so on. We design all our decals in Adobe Illustrator, always the latest version, so we can build scalable vectors. Photoshop comes in real handy as well. We work in an Apple environment for design and Windows for print and cut via Roland print and cut machines.
Production
We use premium vinyl materials: polymeric, and our manufacturer of choice is METAMARK, always on the ball with excellent service and materials.
Printing is always via Roland print and cut using the Truevis printing inks that are eco-solvent, not water-based.
Quality Control
Before any decal leaves our facility, it undergoes rigorous quality checks. We verify colour accuracy and cut precision to ensure you receive a product worthy of your restoration.
This commitment to authenticity and quality is at the heart of our story and everything we do.
Thanks for taking a look. We're a small workshop in Norfolk, making these by hand. Any questions, or a model you don't see listed — just drop us a line.
